As a country, we've survived worse than this: the civil war, the world wars, the great depression, etc. As a country we will survive this. Many of our citizens, however, will not, as their health insurance will be taken away as retribution for Obama making fun of Trump at the correspondents dinner. I'm just really glad that I had my cataract surgeries last year when the ACA was still in effect to help pay for them.
This is a really depressing morning, but at least prop 64 won here in California (I have a feeling it might come in handy for a lot of us for the next four years) and Barbara Lee was reelected with 90% of the vote...

in the meantime, more states fall to Republican control where they'll mimic the damage done in Kansas and Michigan, and then rewrite the voting laws to make sure they can never lose election again despite the economic and social destruction they inflict.

The only thing that will drive the Republicans out of power would be a catastrophe so massive and so against their ideology they could never solve it and force the voters to turn away from them. But in the process thousands if not millions of lives will be lost.

All for racism, all for white pride, all for ignorance and for selfish narrow interest.
