Good Lord was that four years ago already when that was a smash Broadway musical that made its tickets the most coveted must-have item since the Tickle-Me Ben Franklin dolls? (ow stop hitting me)
Anyway, it's back in the limelight due to Disney releasing a recorded performance by the original cast from 2016 onto their streaming service. It may seem like a dated, why-did-they-wait-so-long type of move, but Disney had planned for a theatrical release for 2021, and with the COVID-19 pandemic happening and pushing movie releases back further and further the company had both a dilemma and a solution. Having just opened their own streaming service DisneyPlus last year - using the lure of a hit show The Mandalorian to pull in buyers - they have a need to promote "new" content on a regular basis to keep viewers attracted to the service. Releasing Hamilton - arguably one of the biggest cultural entertainment successes of the last 10 years - on the 4th of July weekend was a no-brainer move.
So anyway, can't provide a direct link to the show itself, but here's some clips:
LAFAYETTE! (Cheese-eating surrender monkey, my ass)
HERCULES MULLIGAN! (Yes that name is real)
And watch out it's THE SCHUYLER SISTERS! WORK WORK!
Speaking of work, gotta think up three more things to blog, so I'm a mind at work! work!
