Mitch McConnell refuses to do anything to prevent Russia - or any other foreign power with their hooks into trump and the Republican Party - from hacking our upcoming 2020 elections.
The economy is showing more signs of heading into a recession.
Speaking of which, trump upped the trade war versus China again with a $300 billion shot scheduled for September 1. The Dow and other stock markets promptly crashed AGAIN.
Hurricane season is picking up. August tends to be the month the big ones start forming in the Atlantic before crashing through the Caribbean and the U.S. And some parts of the United States and Puerto Rico haven't recovered from the last two years.
Oh, and CNN can't host political debates for shit.
I am sorely tempted at the moment to make the "We're Screwed" tag a permanent one until this Darkest Timeline is over.

Fergus never thought about what the political world would look like in the absence of the guardrails against foreign intervention in our elections.
This is particularly true where China is concerned.
They are run by vicious fuckers who are every bit as capable of destabilizing an election as Russia (or us, for that matter) and he keeps picking stupid fights with them.
So now they do, in fact, have an incentive to want to intervene in the 2020 election in favor of a more sane candidate.
They should be prevented from doing so, but Fergus, and thus McConnell, don't seem interested in stopping them.
Our presidential elections are already a mess, and foreign intervention as a new normal will not help them to function better than they do now.
Those guardrails, like all of the other political and societal norms Fergus destroys without a second thought, were put there for a reason.
